Consultants: Look for income protection advice

Financial advice should always be sought before taking out income protection, it has been claimed.
According to Norwest Consultants, consumers also need to be aware of exactly what it is they are signing up for - as an inappropriate policy may be a costly mistake to make.
Income protection covers people in the event that they cannot work due to ill health or an accident and finding a good deal "is not just a matter of looking at the price".
Norwest Consultants principal Harry Katz made it clear that people should make sure they know what they are signing up for.
"What you do not want is to discover that you're ill for six months and it's only going to pay you for one or two or three," he said.
Norwest Consultants is fully regulated by the Financial Services Authority and was established in 1990.
