Employer liability insurance is mandatory for all companies with more than one employee, unless it is not a limited company and you employ only family members. Employer liability insurance covers any injuries or illnesses that occur at work due to the fault of the employer. It is still possible for an employee to claim compensation even if the business goes into liquidation or receivership.
Fines can be enforced against companies for each day they go without employer liability insurance.
All employers must be insured for at least £5 million and cover all employees in the UK.
