EU Students

Loans, grants and other funding for EU students are much the same as for students from the UK; you are eligible for the same amount, depending on the same circumstances, and do not have to pay them back until you earn over a certain threshold. As an EU student, you are entitled to apply for:

Loans and grants are administered by Student Finance Direct and funded by the government of the country in which you are studying. The threshold at which you start paying back your loan will vary to account for different living costs in your home country if you return there. If you remain in the UK, the threshold is £15,000. Regardless of which EU country you live in, including the UK, you will pay back 9% of however much you earn that is over the threshold, i.e. if the threshold is £15,000 and you earn £16,000, you only pay 9% of £1,000.
