Review of General Accident
General Accident was founded in 1885 in Perth, Scotland, by a group of local businessmen. In 1998 the company merged with Commercial Union to form CGU and in 2000 the company merged with Norwich Union to form CGNU. CGNU was subsequently rebranded in 2002 and is now known today as the AVIVA Group.
General Accident Endowment With Profit policies were sold extensively in the 1980s and 1990s as investment plans mainly through direct sales forces to help people pay off their mortgages.
