Review of The Halifax

The Halifax Building Society merged with the Bank of Scotland on the 10th September 2001, between them creating HBOS, the UK’s largest mortgage and savings provider.

HBOS now has over 22 million customers in the UK, with its constituent companies dating back to the 17th century. In addition to assets of over £540 billion, HBOS has around 2.3 million private shareholders, with the largest private shareholder register in the UK.

It holds an extensive collection of documents and artefacts which tell not only the history of individual companies, but the development of British finance and banking over the last three centuries.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
