High Yield Bonds: These funds invests in riskier bonds, known as sub-investment grade bonds. These bonds pay higher interest rates, to try to provide more attractive income returns. To achieve this, greater risk is taken as the companies are more likely to miss payments or not repay the loan, resulting in the returns on your investment falling.

High income funds can provide investors with a competitive regular income and are popular with investors who want to supplement their income. High income funds could invest in high yielding equities or fixed interest securities such as corporate bonds and gilts.

 

If you are interested in high income funds, you must be comfortable risking your capital in a bid to get higher returns. However, there is a wide range of high income funds, each with differing levels of investment risk from which to choose.
