Halifax reveals nations favourite garden characteristics
24/08/2007

Mature shrubs and a paved patio may be the features people are most likely to incorporate into their gardens, it has been reported.
According to research from Halifax Estate Agents, 63 per cent of prospective home-buyers would be interested in a property with established plants and trees.
Over half (58 per cent) claimed that a flagged patio area would increase the appeal of a property to them, although this may raise a home insurance premium.
Colin Kemp, managing director of Halifax Estate Agents, commented that a building's exterior may be as important as its interior.
"Homeowners should treat their garden as they would any other room in their home. Ensuring it is tidy and well-kept can dramatically enhance the appeal of a property," he said.
Meanwhile, it has been estimated that the damage caused by flooding in the south of England will cost the home insurance industry £4 billion.
