UK remains 'most popular choice' for investment Over the last ten years the UK has been the most popular destination for investment in Europe, according to the findings of a new study.

Financial firm Ernst & Young reports that the country has generated 5,539 projects during the course of the last decade - 43 per cent more than France.

The country has taken a 23 per cent share of all inward investment projects since 1997, the company noted.

Mark Otty, chairman of the firm, said that the UK remains an "appealing" destination for inward investment.

"A skilled workforce, a world-class services sector, location and language have all helped the UK outperform the rest of the continent in attracting foreign capital over the last decade," he commented.

However, last month the company's Item Club predicted that the recent credit crunch could have a negative impact upon the UK's economic growth over the coming year.
