Government says home information packs on track

27/07/2005
Government says home information packs on track The government recently said that progress had been made regarding the introduction of a transaction-simplifying Home Information Packs (HIPs).

The packs are designed to make property buying and selling easier and more efficient. Research has shown that the process in the UK is rife with problems and is among the slowest and most complicated in Europe.

A test run for the packs is to take place in 2006 and depending on its success they will be put into the mainstream market the following year.

Early indications point that the test will be successful, as the HIPs have been designed based on extensive research and consultation with experts, buyers, and sellers.

A statement will be made by the government in autumn regarding the progress of the trial run.
