National Savings and Investments

National Savings & Investments (NS&I) is operated by the government through the Post Office. All the investments offered by National Savings & Investments are entirely tax free, with the money 100% insured by the HM Treasury. The NS&I operates on two set two principles :

to provide a totally secure place for people to save, backed by the Government
to provide the Exchequer with a source of funding (ie public borrowing).

Premium bonds are one of the most popular schemes offered by NS&I. Premium bonds offer no rate of interest, but for every £1 invested you are entered into a monthly prize draw with top prizes of up to £1 million. The prize money is untaxed, and the average interest on any investment runs at about 2-3%.

Nationals Saving & Investment also offers numerous other services including bonds, ISAs and savings accounts.
