Student Debt

Student DebtStudent Debt

With the total cost for completing a 3 year university course now averaging £33,631, or £38,641 if you study in London, student debt has become a big problem for many people attending university. If you do a 5 year course, such as medicine, then the total cost goes up to £57,303 or £66,372 in London. The prospect of huge student debt is putting some off from going to university at all, or encouraging them to study close to home so they can continue living with their parents and save on accommodation costs. The average student debt for graduates is thought to be anything from £10,000-£20,000, with expenses including things like:

  • Tuition fees
  • Rent
  • Books/Equipment
  • Food and Utilities
  • Entertainment and Travel
