There are a number of interesting points that can be made about temporary car insurance for over 75s.
Firstly, there is a general trend in the car insurance industry to see those who are over 75 as high risk. These drivers will on the whole be charged higher premiums due to being statistically more likely to be involved in an accident than drivers aged 50-70. Surveys have also shown that around 60% of all car insurance policies are not extended to people past 81.
The second interesting thing to consider is the passing of the Equality Act by Parliament in 2010.This act made it illegal for companies to turn down an application for car insurance based on their age, but it is a practice that still goes on. The reason for this is that insurers are still allowed to charge older people more based on their age as long as they can provide reasonable justification for doing so.
As for attempting to find temporary car insurance for over 75s, it is a mystery why the provisions of the Equality act have not been applied to this form of insurance. As it currently stands it is very difficult to secure a temporary car insurance quote if you are over 75 years old.
