NatWest Launches MoneySense Week In Manchester

As the Mancunians are topping the nation’s spending charts, NatWest has chosen Manchester to host its first MoneySense road show.
The week-long MoneySense event in Manchester is a spin-off of a financial education programme in schools launched 14 years ago, and will provide practical guidance and financial advice for adults.
Visitors will be able to book a confidential one-to-one session with a MoneySense or Consumer Credit Counselling Service Adviser, or use interactive online financial health checks and a budgeting calculator.
Research by NatWest MoneySense has revealed that Mancunians are the biggest spenders in the UK, with the average household spending £26,000 a year – £2,000 more than in London.
Still, 55 per cent of people in Manchester manage to put money into savings on top of the amount they spend, as do 53 per cent of Londoners. Both cities are therefore topping the national average of savers which is about 47 per cent.
Stephen Moir, spokesperson of MoneySense, commented: “While it’s great to hear that Manchester’s ‘big spenders’ are enjoying their money and lifestyle today, it’s also important to think about how managing your money better today can mean more savings for tomorrow.”
“The advisers will be able to provide tips and ideas to suit different lifestyles, from a student who is perhaps confused about their student loan and a couple considering the costs of buying their first home to those starting a family or planning for retirement.”
MoneySense week is an opportunity for people of all financial backgrounds to get free, impartial advice on how to improve spending habits and everyday money decisions.
