Credit card holders get picky about their plastic, Saga reveals

20 June 2005
According to research from Saga Visa Card, a significant proportion of credit card holders are getting more picky about which credit cards they use because it is difficult to remember their PIN number.

The different strategies adopted by people to address the issue of having to remember a range of PINs include stopping using one or more of their cards (one in seven people), increasing the credit limit on their main card (one in twenty) and using the same PIN for all their cards (one in five).

More than a third (36 per cent) of those surveyed by Saga aged under 24 have even been put off using their cards by having to remember too many PINs, and are opting for cash and cheques.

“The trend of downsizing the plastic in our wallets makes it important to carry the right cards,” comments Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga.

“My advice is to check the charges – especially if you plan to use your cards on holiday.”

Choosing the right card, with the best interest rates for you, can help credit card holders maximise the potential of their credit card spending.
