Start Christmas credit card shopping now!

Brits who want to make Christmas shopping a little easier on their pockets should start shopping around for zero per cent introductory rate credit cards now.

According to price comaprison website Moneysupermarket, some Britons are using cards with rates as high as 15.9 per cent when they could switch to one of the 36 zero per cent credit cards available now.

Director of credit cards at the financial comparison website, said: “As ever, many people will look to the convenience of the internet to buy and compare prices for their gifts.

“But don’t stop there. Make sure you pay for your goods with as little cost to you as possible as well and pick the best credit card to suit your needs.”

He also pointed out that internet shopping using a zero per cent credit card can really save money as it offers the added protection of an internet fraud guarantee.

Last year British shoppers spent £22 million on credit cards in the run-up to Christmas.

A Cardiff University researcher recently pinpointed the worst day of the year as January 24th, as Britons recover from Christmas credit hangovers.

He used the amount of Christmas debt owed multiplied by the bad weather to find out the worst day of the year.

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) said it received more that a thousand calls on January 4th last year, the first working day after the Christmas and New Year break.
