O2 broadband tops consumer satisfaction survey

01 May 2009 / by Rebecca Sargent
O2 broadband has been voted best broadband provider for customer satisfaction in the latest Broadband Customer Satisfaction Survey from BroadbandChoices.co.uk.

According to the consumer group, O2 broadband is “king of the ISP hill” after winning all six of the survey’s satisfaction categories, in addition to being voted overall top broadband provider.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media broadband was voted the most improved ISP (Internet Service Provider) overall, when compared to the autumn 2008 edition of the survey.

Other providers to do well in the survey include Sky broadband, which was voted best ISP overall for bundled services, and Talk Talk broadband, which was voted best value for money for bundled services.

Commenting, Michael Philips, product director at BroadbandChoices.co.uk, said: “It’s impressive to see that O2 scored an average of 86 per cent for very/fairly satisfied across all categories. They were streets ahead of the other ISPs who averaged 60 per cent.

“For bundled packages, Sky took the top position overall but Virgin Media is close on its heels and manages to rank highest for download times with its cable network.”

Speaking of the number of people switching broadband provider, he added: “Our findings indicate that more than 46 per cent of customers have already switched provider.

“As competition in the broadband market increases, it’s encouraging to see that consumers now recognise they are viable alternatives,” he added.

Highlighting the ongoing concerns over broadband speeds, Mr Phillips added: “The key reason for considering switching is overwhelmingly due to the frustration of not receiving the speed performance users have been promised.”
