Rival company Sky broadband added around 260,000 customers across the final three months of 2207, while BT Retail reported 177,000 new customers and TalkTalk attracted 118,000, reports the Register.

The new figures add concern to an already struggling Orange which recently appointed a new chief executive when parent company France Telecom decided its UK branch had begun to fade, the report continues.

Commenting on the findings, Michael Philpott, principal analyst at Ovum, said: “It just seems to have gone wrong for Orange. Customers don’t see the link between mobile and broadband as they do with other bundle services.”

Some have suggested that the market is now saturated as switching becomes increasingly prevalent, but Mr Phillpot said this was not he case but that Orange was the “loser” of a “dogfight”, according to the report.

In related news, it has recently been reported that consumers may not be receiving the broadband speeds that are advertised.
