Phone users urged to seek savings

05 December 2007
As the holiday season continues and Brits call their friends and family, the price comparison site uSwitch.com has urged consumers to keep an eye on their phone bills.

There are several different ways that one can ensure that one’s phone bill is kept under control, uSwitch has stated.

Switching you home phone provider is the primary way that savings – sometimes as high as 81 per cent – can be achieved.

Also, up to 92 per cent of the cost of a call can be saved by using the internet for international calls, the site stated.

Steve Weller, head of communications services at uSwitch.com, said: “It’s clear that VoIP is a great way to save money on calling abroad.

“However, the sophisticated range of international calling plans and other landline options show that there’s no reason to write off the traditional home phone just yet.”

Meanwhile, a uSwitch.com report recently stated that the process of transferring one’s phone line when one moves has become “complicated and confusing”.
