Following the launch of the 12th annual Energy Saving Week by the Energy Saving Trust, Fairinvestment.co.uk is encouraging Brits to take advantage of the opportunity to learn how to be as energy efficient as possible.

Energy Saving Week began on Monday October 20, runs until Friday October 24 and aims to promote energy saving action in UK households. Such action has never been more poignant as household gas and electricity bills hit record highs of around £1,300 a year this summer.

The campaign has found that Brits are constricted by time as work and other commitments get in the way. However, energy saving can be as quick as turning off a light switch or adjusting a thermostat.

Cutting energy use and carbon footprints has now become a pressing issue as the Government has realised with its various energy efficiency measures recently introduced. The affects of climate change and global warming can already be seen, and are only going to get worse unless something is done to combat them, which is why Fairinvestment.co.uk is actively supporting the Energy Saving Trust’s latest campaign.

Commenting, Fairinvestment.co.uk director, James Caldwell said: “As a company we actively promote energy saving and ethical awareness through various measures such as recycling and switching lights and equipment off wherever possible.”

Such measures are just as important for consumers as they are for companies like Fairinvestment.co.uk. Simple steps like insulation, switching off lights and equipment and only boiling the water you need in a kettle can all contribute to reducing climate change and household bills.

“According to the Energy Saving Trust (EST), 40% of the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions and green house gases come from things that we do every day and things that we can change,” he added.

So, although it may not seem like switching off lights when you leave a room will have that much of an affect, it really can make a difference to the environment.

And, says Mr Caldwell, energy saving will have a positive effect on your finances too.

“The average household could knock more than £200 off their annual fuel bill* which would make a significant difference to households already overstretched by rising inflation,” he said.

“We would like to see more consumers taking advantage of the information available from the EST on how to save energy and reduce their carbon footprint for the good of their pocket and for future generations.”

To find out how you could save money and help save the environment, use Fairinvestment.co.uk’s gas and electricity quotes switching service which allows you to filter your results by green suppliers.
