SMEs can improve broadband connections ‘with a little help’

08 January 2008 / by None
It may be possible for small to medium-sized enterprises to improve the speed of their broadband connection for a small amount of money and only a limited amount of assistance, one expert has claimed.

Andrew Ferguson, editor of thinkbroadband.com, said that broadband connections can depend on the location of a company “in relation to the central exchange”.

Companies may find that they are able to obtain “better, more reliable” internet access for “little money and with a small amount of help”, the expert said.

This could include reviewing their current service and whether speed upgrades would be available to them, while also “tidying up” telephone wires to limit the effect they have on ADSL services, Mr Ferguson suggested.

In related news, the Broadband Stakeholder Group unveiled plans for the introduction of super-fast broadband in April last year, the BBC reports.

Such services are expected to offer connection speeds of up to 100Mbps.
