E Conveyancing

Conveyancing - Find the Best Deal »

E conveyancing, or paperless house purchasing, is a new idea currently being developed by the UK Land Registry with the hope of re-engineering the conveyancing process in England and Wales to make it more cost effective, efficient and to reduce the number of house sales falling through due to the slowness of the current process.

In 1998, preliminary proposals were set out in the joint report by the Law Commission and Land Registry entitled Land Registration for the Twenty First Century but while e conveyancing isn't normal practice for the vast majority of conveyancing specialists, it is thought that it will be commonplace within the next few years.

An E conveyancing service will typically offer:

  • A reduction in the worry and risk of the conveyancing process as it is currently
  • Speedy, secure and reliable exchange of information between authorised parties involved in a conveyancing transaction and the Land Registry
  • Land registration will be confirmed immediately on completion
  • up-to-date and accurate information on the progress of all linked conveyancing transactions made freely available to clients
  • Immediate, secure and reliable transfer of funds
