Callers ‘still unaware of foreign caps’

01 August 2007
Thousands of people in the UK do not know when they will be able to take advantage of capped roaming charges, it has been claimed.

Next month, the European commission will bring in regulation meaning that prices for using other networks on the continent do not exceed a certain amount.

This will mean that people will not be stung with a high phone bill, in addition to travel insurance and currency exchange rates.

But SimplySwitch.com research has showed that three out of the big seven operators have not yet told customers when they will bring the new caps in.

“I would advise anyone jetting off on holiday before their operator price caps come into effect, to do their research before they go,” said Karen Darby at the company.

Meanwhile, research from SimplySwitch.com recently found that 63 per cent of consumers would switch mobile phone networks if they found a better tariff.
