Travellers ‘should Shop Around For Currency Exchange’

People looking to go abroad this summer should attempt a thorough shop-around before settling on a currency exchange deal, according to a consumer website.

Moneyfacts.co.uk has offered travellers tips to avoid being ripped off, as they may already be paying over the odds for holiday insurance and their flights.

It has told consumers that they should not leave finding a deal until the last minute, as airports will often charge higher commission rates.

Similarly, a credit card charge may also be applied, as well as a delivery charge.

And Lisa Taylor from Moneyfacts.co.uk has commented: “This year travellers will find an abundance of commission free currency deals, with only a handful of branch and telephone services now charging an upfront commission fee.”

For some families, last weekend marked the beginning of the summer holidays as numerous schools around the country closed until September.
