Consumers seeking personal loans are being offered a new leg up thanks to a partnership between Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) and Weese Reinvestment Rust.

The Trust will be providing three per cent personal loans, which are targeted at low-income consumers.

The loans will be sued for essentials such as home repairs, with a spokesman exploring to the BBC the thinking behind the scheme.

“People eligible for these loans include working people, single people, older people, all on a lower income, as well as disabled people on benefit,” he said.

The spokesman said the loans would cater for those people who had not previously received help from the council.

Individuals could then use the low-rate loan to cover issue such as roofing or repairing electrical faults.
