New figures from Halifax have revealed the loan application habits of British consumers.

According to the findings, men are 50 per cent more likely to apply online for a loan, compared to women and single people are more likely to get their loan online compared to married consumers.

Max Vialou-Clark, head of business development at Halifax unsecured personal loans, said: “The number of online applications has more than doubled in the last three years and shows no signs of slowing.”

“However, the gap between the number of men and women applying online shows no signs of narrowing and has remained constant for the last few years.”

Additional figures suggest that office workers are more likely to make an application online, since most can be conducted in a short amount of time.

When considering regions, people living in London appear to be most interested in applying for loans online.
