How does a 15% return on your investment after 3 years sound…?
Well that’s exactly what’s on offer from this defensive plan from MB. Should a ‘kick out’ investment mature early, not only do you receive the headline rate of return on offer, but also your initial investment back in full.
The plan offers 5% for each year invested (not compounded) provided the value of the FTSE 100 Index is above a specific level at the end of each year, compared to the value at the start of the plan. The required level is 105% of its starting value at the end of year 3, 100% at the end of years 4 and 5, and down to 80% in the final year. So the plan could offer 5% returns, even if the FTSE falls by 20%.
If the Index closes below the required level each year, no growth return will be paid and your initial investment will be returned in full unless the Index has fallen by more than 40% at maturity. If this does occur, your capital is at risk so you will lose some or all of your investment.
Depending on your view of the UK market, an investment that offers the potential for investment level growth returns even if the markets fall up to 20%, could be a timely one.
