The question is how easy is it to get van insurance in the company name? The answer is that it is easy to get a van insurance policy, but what is potentially more difficult is finding one where the detail suits your company’s needs.

When you are looking at all the different van insurance quotes that your company will get offered, there are a few things that you make sure to enquire about:

  • Can you include legal cover as an extra to the policy?
  • Can the premiums be reduced if all of the vans are fitted with alarms and immobilisers?
  • Will the place where the vehicles are stored be taken into account?

An important question is whether or not the primary business purpose that the vans are used for will be taken into account by the providers of the van insurance. If your company name is built upon the safe delivery of goods or haulage, will you need to pay extra to insure third parties for loss or damage?

The extent of cover you will need will depend upon the type of work that your company is engaged in. The three types of van insurance policy are:

  • Third party cover will protect you from having to pay for damage caused by somebody else to your van
  • Third party, fire and theft adds cover from fire, explosions, lightening and theft or attempted theft to your third party van insurance
  • Comprehensive cover includes all of protection offered by the above policies, with the added cover for damage that is caused by accident or maliciously

Price comparison websites can be a good place to start in your search for van insurance quotes, although, going directly to some companies may be the only way of accessing their best deals.
