AA launches travel insurance solution for single parents

Single parent families may not conform to the stereotypical image of the nuclear family on a package holiday, but the AA doesn't believe they should be penalised for this - so it's launching a special travel insurance solution for lone parents.

As with holiday packages, travel insurance designed for the traditional two-parent, two-child family model can rarely be rearranged for single parents, meaning one-parent families can find themselves paying over the odds.

But with the special solution offered by the AA, single parents can save up to 40 per cent on their travel insurance.

"Single parent families sometimes find it a struggle to meet the cost of a holiday so why should they be penalised by having to pay for family travel insurance that typically cover two adults and up to four children?" comments Kevin Sinclair, managing director of AA Insurance.

"AA single-trip travel insurance for one adult aged between 18 and 65, taking up to four children aged under 18 who live at the same address, will bring big savings."

Whilst the solution is aimed primarily at one-parent families, Mr Sinclair points out that it can also be adapted to families going on a particular holiday with just one parent.
