Norwich Union: Adventurous Brits needs travel insurance

06 December 2005
Brits are adventurous when it comes to trying new things on holiday, making travel insurance important in case of accidents, large or small, says Norwich Union.

Research by the insurance provider revealed normally conservative Brits often go wild on holiday and do not mind going without basic comforts.

Norwich Union found over half of Brits would happily try cockroaches, snakes or grasshoppers and over 40 per cent would love to go on an adventure holiday.

Dawn McMullan from Norwich Union Travel Insurance said that although some TV shows make adventure holidays look fun "it's important to be aware of the risks involved and be properly insured".

The survey revealed TV-mad Brits are keen to follow in the footsteps of adventurous television stars and would not mind trying jungle camping.

The insurance provider says it processes thousands of travel insurance claims every year, ranging from falling off camels to strains induced by mountain trekking.
