One of the UK's largest insurance companies, Norwich Union, has unveiled a new product called Simple Cover aimed at "internet savvy motorists".
Simple Cover is effectively a 'no-frills' insurance policy, offering customers fully comprehensive cover but without many of the add-ons that can raise the premium of normal motor insurance.
Personal accident cover, medical expenses and cover for driving other cars are not included with the new Norwich Union package, and the company says that excluding these features, which it claims are frequently not needed by motorists, can save customers unnecessary expense.
"Easy and straightforward, Simple Cover is the perfect solution for time-poor, internet savvy motorists on the look-out for quality insurance at cheaper prices," said Mark Godfrey, head of Norwich Union Direct motor marketing.
An added 'bonus' is that premiums are payable on an annual basis, which helps customers avoid additional administrative charges associated with paying in instalments.
However, industry observers have noted that such a system may stave off business from other drivers who may not wish to pay for their cover in one go.To read more about insurance, click here.
