Invest tax efficiently with equity ISAs…
What is an equity ISA?
Make the most of your tax-free savings allowance with an equity ISA. An equity ISA provides a tax-efficient way to invest in a wide range of assets, normally linked to the stock market. This type of ISA carries an element of risk, as the markets can fall as well as rise, but it also offers the potential for higher returns than those available with cash ISAs.
How much can I invest in an equity ISA?
You can put up to your full ISA allowance – which is £15,000 for 2014/15 – into an equity ISA. If you prefer, you can put some of this into a cash ISA and the remaining balance into an equity ISA or another type of investment ISA.
Who are equity ISAs suitable for?
Equity ISAs are more of a long-term commitment than a cash ISA, so they may be a better idea if you are saving for a fairly distant event, such as your retirement. If, on the other hand, you’re saving for a rainy day or you’re likely to need to access to your capital within five years, a cash ISA might be a more suitable choice.
