Fixed rate ISAs provide a guaranteed rate of return and reduce the need to worry about your savings performance over the time of the plan. However, if the Bank of England changes interest rates during the fixed term, there will be no impact on the rate on your ISA savings, up or down.
Fixed rate ISAs possess all the usual advantages of an Individual Savings Account:
- No tax on income from the ISA
- No tax on capital gains from the ISA
Some structured products, known as structured deposits may be classed as cash ISAs, and can offer potential for defined returns linked to the performance of an underlying index, such as the FTSE 100.
Structured products known as structured investments can offer fixed income payments, although the capital invested will be at risk as return of capital is generally dependent on the performance of an underlying index.
