SIPPs - Like any pension scheme a Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) provides you with retirement and related benefits.

It's different from other pension schemes, however, as it allows you the accessibility and control to invest into your pension scheme more flexibly and you also have the possibility of income withdrawal. It does this by providing you with a choice of around 1,000 funds to pay into (in comparison with an average pension scheme which will give you a choice of around 30 funds).

In other words a SIPP enables you to manage your own investment.

Pros and cons associated with SIPPs - Probably the main benefit associated with SIPPs are personal flexibility to select the funds your pension is invested in. However it is important that you also consider the disadvantages associated with SIPPs. How much are the upfront fees and annual fees and can these be financially off-set against the benefits. It should also be noted that online SIPPs often have lower charges.
