Do your research and compare VCTs
Before investing in venture capital trusts it is important to do some VCT research. This will reveal what the risks are, how you can benefit from VCTs and how they work. VCT research can also uncover the strength of the VCT manager you are investing in, and its track record with handling VCTs, such as:
- How successful they have been at raising funds
- Whether they have invested 70% of VCT funds in appropriate investments as required
- Which VCTs have not raised sufficient funds and therefore failed
