Includes full capital protection and FSCS bank deposit protection…

Inflation at 2.50%, best long term fixed rate bond at 2.69%, and only 2.30% on the top fixed rate Cash ISA. Doesn’t make the best of reading does it? Which is perhaps why the potential for 6.0% per year from this popular deposit plan could make for an interesting alternative.

The Investec FTSE 100 Kick-Out Deposit Plan is a bank deposit which will kick-out and pay 6.0% for each year the plan has been in place (not compounded), provided the value of the FTSE 100 Index at the end of each year from year 3 onwards, is higher than its value at the start of the plan (subject to averaging). That’s a potential 18% after 3 years, or another 6.0% for each additional year thereafter. If the Index is lower on all of these dates you will only receive a return of your initial deposit.

As a deposit plan your initial capital has the same protection as a traditional savings account. So if you’re happy to link your return to the FTSE ending higher in future years, you could significantly increase the amount of interest you get from your savings.
