Vodafone UK has announced improvements to its mobile broadband service that will allow consumer and business customers to access a significantly faster data network.

The new Mobile Broadband service will cover around 80 per cent of the UK and provide its customers with download speeds of up to 7.2 megabits per second.

Commenting on the imminent improvements, Nick Read, chief executive officer of Vodafone UK, said: “Since we launched our high-quality Mobile Broadband in the UK in July we’ve been leading the way in download speeds and now we’re determined to broaden its appeal even further.”

The company has also announced a roaming package that covers nearly all of Europe, west of Russia, USA, Japan, Australia and New Zealand which can be accessed for £9.99 per 24-hour session.

Mr Read stated that as from next week subscribers will be able to access their high-speed internet service in the UK or overseas with “clear and predictable pricing”.

In related news, American electronics company Motorola is considering pulling out of the mobile phone market, reports the Guardian.
