Sky records broadband growth

06 November 2007
Sky significantly increased its broadband customer base during the quarter ending September 30th.

The firm claimed that its Sky Broadband service had more than one million customers during October.

James Murdoch, chief executive of the company, said that there has been “continued good demand” for its products.

“We launched Sky Broadband in the belief that customers would respond to quality and value, and they have,” Mr Murdoch stated.

He added that one million customers had chosen to subscribe to its service “after just 14 months”.

In related news, moneysupermarket.com recently reported that four in ten people do not know the difference between the various broadband deals available on the market.

The company also found that 48 per cent of people surveyed thought that bundled deals, including TV and telephony packages, were “confusing”.

Jason Lloyd, head of broadband at moneysupermarket.com, advised people to consider their requirements and review the features offered by providers before subscribing to a service.
