Watchdog survey confirms triumph of the small ISP

28 March 2007
Global Internet has topped the charts in a BBC Watchdog customer satisfaction survey for broadband, with an overwhelming 95 per cent of customers reporting overall satisfaction with its service.

Alongside Waitrose and Madasafish, both also provided by white label provider Brightview, Global headed the top three list for broadband providers.

Meanwhile, BT polled 64 per cent customer satisfaction, placing it at the lower end of the mid-range of internet service providers ranked by 50,000 UK customers.

Big-name brand Orange fared rather worse, being rated third from bottom on customer satisfaction.

Orange’s position was reportedly affected by the technical difficulties customers introducing bundled communications have suffered.

TalkTalk was only marginally ahead of its major competitors on the indicators of customer service, ease of set-up, cancellation, value for money, and reliability of service on which customers were asked to comment.

Orange, TalkTalk, and BT also led the way among broadband providers ranked as ‘worst’ – although the fact that this category relied on a provider receiving the largest number of ‘unsatisfied’ or ‘extremely unsatisfied’ ratings was probably prejudicial to larger brands.
