O2 has today launched the iPhone 3G on a pay-as-you-go basis, allowing customers to enjoy the phone without being tied to a lengthy contract.

The iPhone 3G was previously only available on a 12 or 18 month contract but is now available to buy with a Pay & Go SIM card. The top of the range gadget phone will be available with an 8GB memory for £349.99, and the 16GB version will be £399.99.

The Apple iPhone was first launched last year and is the pioneer of multi-purpose phones as it combines movies, music and internet into an easy to use package.

However, since then it has been upgraded to the iPhone 3G which is better suited as a business phone due to its support for 3G networks and compatibility with Microsoft Exchange email servers.

In fact, Apple is hoping to overtake the well established Blackberry in the business stakes. The pay & Go iPhone will include unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi for the first twelve months after activating the iPhone 3G making it all the more competitive.

The Apple iPhone is available to buy with a Pay & Go SIM card from O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores from today.
