Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale bank are currently offering new mortgage and remortgage customers free home insurance.

Depending on their financial needs, new customers taking out selected mortgage and remortgage deals can choose free home insurance, or discounts on their arrangement fees.

Between Monday 18 January and 28 February 2010, mortgage and remortgage customers transferring to Yorkshire Bank or Clydesdale Bank from another lender, can choose either £1,000 worth of free buildings and contents insurance or have £500 slashed from their arrangement fee.

As an added incentive, the mortgage lenders – both owned by National Australia Bank – have also reduced the rates on some of their mortgage products, namely, their 75 per cent Loan to Value two year fixed rate mortgage, falling from 4.49 per cent to 4.19 per cent, and a 75 per cent LTV five year fixed rate mortgage, cut from 5.79 per cent to 5.49 per cent from today.

Commenting on the special offer, heads of retail at Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale respectively, Gary Lumby and Steve Reid, said: “This new offer is another example of Yorkshire Bank’s commitment to continue lending.

“By combining a range of competitive remortgage and home-mover products with up to £1000 of free insurance or £500 towards arrangement fees we’re offering great value and choice.”
